The letter stated that I should call the number on the letter and ask for a man name Marvin Lawrence. He answered the phone and identified himself as same.
I explained to him that I was calling to acknowledge the award letter and the check that I received. Mr. Lawrence asked the following questions:

2. What is the PIN # on the letter?
3. What is the check number?
4. What is your telephone number?
After about 10 seconds, Mr. Lawrence stated that my check was good and that I could cash the check. He therefore stated that after the check was cashed, I needed to call him back for further instructions as to how I can receive the balance of my winnings.
Claimed that I won $500,000, sent me an award letter and a check for $6997. I never deposited the check because the letter and the check didn't appear to be real.
