Why can't our government do something about?

This number is associated with a fraud scam from a Craigslist ad. An item is listed for sale on CL. The price is too good to be true. If you call the number you are told the box is full. A day or two later you will receive a text back from the "seller" asking for your email address. Then you are told that the seller is out of state, in the service overseas, moving out of the country etc. The vehicle is in storage. The seller instructs you to put the money in an escrow account and that then the item will be delivered to you. The escrow account is fake, there is no item and you will be out of your funds if you fall for this scam.

have car for sale on CL; this scammer wanted my name, address and name of bank so he could "send cashier's check via US Express Mail." Blatent attempt at ID theft, unauthorized person in accounts, or worse crime.
