They left a voice message:
"This is Private Home Lending, your mortgage company, calling to do an annual review to get you the best rates on your home mortgage".
1) "Private Home Lending" is not the name of my mortgage company.
2)They left this phone number on the message for me to return a call to. This phone number appears to be based out of California. My Mortgage company is not in California.
3) My mortgage company doesn't do "year end annual reviews".
...This is clearly a scam. They also called a few days later leaving the same message, but told me to call 925-574-1683.
When in doubt, don't return call to the number they give you. It is better to call the phone number on your mortgage statement to make sure that you are actually talking to YOUR mortgage company.
