I received two calls a few hours apart from this number today. They left an automated message with their phone number on it, in a tone that makes it sound very urgent to return the call. I had already read the reports that this was a phony IRS call, but decided to call back and hear for myself. The woman who answered the phone had a heart Indian accent and was difficult to understand. I did hear a partially discernible phrase, "This is the IRS. Can you verify your first and last name?" When I questioned the call and the reason they called me in the first place, she hung up. Hopefully, that will be the end of their calls. I would encourage people who receive these types of calls to be careful not to divulge any personal information, and to let other people know when they receive one of these calls.
