Call came in to company owned cell phone earlier in afternoon. Employee came back to office and reported that a caller identified himself as "David" but that it was so loud and busy around him, he couldn't understand the rest. I contacted number from business landline - and "David" answered the call. When asked what company he was calling from, he identified it as "ShareFile" offering data services for large transfers of files and data. I asked why he would be contacting a field employee on a company owned cell phone and he tried to tell me the employee must have downloaded an app or tried to transfer large amounts of data and that is how he got is phone number. When I said our employee did not download anything, he wanted to know who I was. I only identified us as a business in Wisconsin. Share File call originates from North Carolina. Told him to not contact the number I was calling from and that any further calls to employee cell phones would be reported.
