I received a voicemail from the same number from a gentleman with a very thick accent saying he needed to verify employment and gave me a reference #877875. I have not returned the call, just looked it up on the web. After reading the report from Oct. 17th, I think that person shouldn't have given Any information at all! So...are they a tax company, employment verification or loan officers??? Smells like a scam to me!

I received a call from this number and they left me a voicemail requesting me to call them back with a reference number regarding a loan I just applied for, but they claimed that the company they were calling from was Veritax. When I called back and gave them the reference number, they knew my name and said they needed to verify my employment with my employer and asked with the correct employer name if I worked for them and I said yes. They then asked for a work phone number and I told them I already gave the bank my employer’s correct phone number. They said that no phone number was transferred to them, which I thought was odd because the bank repeated my work phone number to me and was correct. I gave them the phone number (which is public anyway). They then asked me for a contact there and I gave the name of my HR manager. I’m not sure whether or not this was legitimate, especially considering the name of the company listed was not the same as the company they said they were (Veritax).
