A lousy marketing scam! Besides THAT is not the IRS"s way!
The guy said his name was John with batch number 6231 and that he was from the IRS and just needed me to give my name to verify if he was talking to the right person. I told him to let me know what name he had on file and I would let him know if he had the right number. He just kept saying "No, no, no. I need your name for verification." I'm a female and I told him my name was John Doe and he said hold on, he was going to look it up. And I was like you clearly know that's a fake name, right? And then I told him if it were that important someone with a brain would call back h/u. This is for sure a scam, because I know for a fact I know the IRS $0
